Our School

Newlands Hey School is registered with Ofsted to provide specialist supportive education for up to 10 young people who have autism and complex needs.

At Newlands Hey School we pride ourselves in our gentle teaching methods. We respect individual needs and create an ‘autism friendly’ environment that is perfect for learning and development.

Each of the young people who attend our school follow a bespoke personised learning programme. All pupils are supported on a minimum of 1:1 staffing at all times in order to provide a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum that acknowledges the young person’s individuality. We identify and offer the pupils preferred method of communicating to help ensure that effective skills are developed and used in all areas of activity.

Our work in school is informed and based on the NAS’s ‘SPELL’ framework to give each young person the best chance to achieve their full potential. We maintain low arousal environment with high levels of structure to remain ‘autism friendly’ at all times.

The school is co-educational and is staffed with highly skilled and experienced staff team. We work hard to always go the extra mile to ensure all our young people flourish and thrive and develop a sense of being valued.

We aim to provide all our pupils with a future changing education for life that not only meets all their learning needs, independence, communication and preparation for adult life but makes a positive difference to their and their family’s futures.
